# Door James compared

> These comparisons show how Door James differs from other desk and room booking solutions – in pricing model, hosting, Microsoft integration, module scope and target group. Every page explicitly names the scenarios where another product is the better choice. Statements about other providers come from their public information, as of September 2026.

Comparison pages that take the other side seriously. Each one ends with the cases where we are not the right choice.

## How we compare

Three rules apply to every comparison page. First, statements about Door James are evidenced and current. Second, statements about other providers come from their publicly available information, are dated and phrased without judgement – products change, and an outdated claim mostly damages us. Third, every page names the cases where the alternative fits better.

The reason is practical: in selection processes these pages are read by people who also read the other side. A comparison that talks the competition down loses credibility exactly there.

## And the most common competitor?

It is called Excel and Outlook. That is why it has its own page: [desk sharing with Excel](desk-sharing-with-excel/).

## Pages in this section

- [Door James vs deskbird](https://doorjames.com/compare/door-james-vs-deskbird/): Door James and deskbird serve the same hybrid work market. Door James is sold as one subscription per user with all modules included, developed by CGI Germany and optionally hosted on IONOS in Germany; according to publicly available information deskbird works with tiered plans including a free entry option and emphasizes a large number of individual integrations.
- [Door James vs Flexopus](https://doorjames.com/compare/door-james-vs-flexopus/): Door James and Flexopus are both positioned in the German-speaking market and offer hosting in Germany. Door James bills per authorized user with all modules included and comes from CGI Germany; according to publicly available information Flexopus uses resource-based pricing and emphasizes hosting with a German provider holding ISO 27001 certification.
- [Door James vs Microsoft Places](https://doorjames.com/compare/door-james-vs-microsoft-places/): In Microsoft-centric organizations the question is whether a specialized platform is needed alongside Microsoft's own hybrid work tooling. The answer depends on which modules you need: visitor management with kiosk and badge printing, event management, parking, custom assets, evacuation and location-specific retention periods are not part of the Microsoft base tooling.
- [Desk sharing with Excel](https://doorjames.com/compare/desk-sharing-with-excel/): A spreadsheet for desk booking works perfectly well with one location, few desks and stable teams. The limit is reached once several locations, parking, visitors or reporting are added: then double bookings appear, attendance becomes unclear, manual maintenance grows and there is no reliable basis for space decisions.
