By the time the quote arrives the idea has usually shrunk to two screens on the executive floor. The reason is that the display was treated as hardware. It is not. What people want is the information – is the room free, where am I, who is in today – and any screen with a browser can show that."

      "text": "Pairing by QR code sounds like a small convenience. It is the part that decides whether the project happens. There is nothing to install on the device, nothing to enrol in device management, no per-screen configuration file. A colleague with a tablet and five minutes can hang a door sign, and if it turns out to be the wrong spot, unpairing costs nothing. That changes which screens exist. Not two on the executive floor, but the one at the entrance to the project area, the one by the lifts, the one nobody would have written a business case for."

  "faq": [
    {
      "question": "What hardware do we need?",
      "answer": "Anything that runs a modern browser: an old iPad on a wall mount, an Android tablet, a commercial display with a built-in browser, or a mini PC on a monitor. There is no proprietary panel to buy and no vendor lock to a particular device. In practice most organizations start with tablets they already own."
    },
    {
      "question": "Is there a licence fee per screen?",
      "answer": "No. Screens are part of the subscription, which is licensed per user. A building with forty door signs costs the same as a building with none – that is deliberate, because a per-screen fee is exactly what stops people putting up the screen that would have been useful."
    },
    {
      "question": "Can a room be booked at the display itself?",
      "answer": "The door sign shows a code that leads to the booking, so the person standing in front of the room can book it from their phone. That keeps the booking tied to a real identity, which matters for the occupancy figures and for knowing who to ask when a room is held but empty."
    },
    {
      "question": "What happens when the network drops?",
      "answer": "The screen shows its last state and reconnects by itself. The Admin Panel shows the device as offline, so the failure is visible centrally rather than only to whoever walks past it."
    },
    {
      "question": "Can we show our own content?",
      "answer": "Yes. One of the layouts fills the screen with a web page, and another puts a web page next to a sidebar with clock, weather and logo. Anything you can host as a page – a dashboard, an intranet screen, a campaign – can run on the same devices."
    },
    {
      "question": "Does it work as a check-in kiosk for visitors too?",
      "answer": "Visitor self check-in is its own kiosk mode and part of visitor management, paired the same way with a PIN. The two are separate on purpose: a door sign is public, a check-in kiosk handles personal data."
