# Hybrid work

> Hybrid work describes a working model in which employees deliberately alternate between the office and another work location, usually home. Unlike pure remote work the office remains the place for collaboration; unlike on-site work attendance is not daily. The planning questions that workplace software addresses arise from that alternation.

## What distinguishes hybrid work from home office

The difference is predictability. Home office is an individual exception or entitlement; hybrid work is a model with expectations on both sides. The practical consequence follows: if not everyone is present daily, it has to be clear who comes when – otherwise teams meet by accident or not at all.

## The three questions every model must answer

First, the attendance expectation: fixed days, a minimum per week, or full freedom? Second, coordination: who agrees team days, and how? Third, space: how many desks does that attendance require? The third is the only one that can be calculated – which is why it is often asked first, even though it depends on the first two.

## What most commonly fails in practice

Not the model itself but the gap between rule and reality: an expectation of three office days with a desk sharing ratio of 0.5 does not add up. Setting both at once without measuring attendance produces predictable shortages.
