# Door James in your existing IT landscape

> Door James connects to your existing identity provider through OpenID Connect – most commonly Microsoft Entra ID – and uses Microsoft Graph for profile and group synchronization as well as Outlook room calendars. A Microsoft Teams app, kiosk devices at reception, SAML sign-in and custom JSON user synchronization complete the picture; ServiceNow, Stripe and smart locks are planned rather than available.

No second identity silo, no parallel calendar. Door James uses what your organization already runs.

## Key facts

- **Sign-in:** OpenID Connect and SAML, Microsoft and Google preconfigured
- **Directory:** Microsoft Graph for profiles and groups
- **Microsoft apps:** Teams app and Outlook add-in, Exchange Online through Graph
- **Other:** SAML sign-in, JSON user sync, custom URLs

## Identity instead of user management

Most problems when introducing workplace software arise not in the application but in user management: who creates accounts, who deactivates them when someone leaves, how do groups and departments enter the system? Door James answers that with a clear position: the truth about users lives in your directory, not in Door James.

Through OpenID Connect employees sign in with their familiar corporate account. Through Microsoft Graph, profile data and group memberships are read – the latter drive whitelists, area access and booking rights. When an account is deactivated in the directory, access to Door James ends.

## What we commit to and what we do not

We keep the integration pages deliberately concrete. What runs in the product today is described as a feature. What is technically possible but depends on a third party is described as a verification step. What is under development appears on the roadmap. We do not skip that distinction, because in tenders it makes the difference between a reliable and a risky statement.

## Pages in this section

- [Microsoft 365](https://doorjames.com/integrations/microsoft-365/): Door James integrates with Microsoft 365 at four points: single sign-on through Entra ID using OpenID Connect, profile and group synchronization through Microsoft Graph, bidirectional room calendar synchronization with Exchange Online, and a Teams app for bookings and notifications inside your tenant.
- [Microsoft Teams](https://doorjames.com/integrations/microsoft-teams/): The Door James app for Microsoft Teams is deployed as a package in your tenant, uses the Microsoft identity for sign-in and makes bookings possible directly inside Teams. Check-in reminders and emergency alerts arrive in the personal Teams activity feed when a push notification cannot be delivered.
- [Outlook & Exchange](https://doorjames.com/integrations/outlook-and-exchange/): The Outlook integration synchronizes Exchange room calendars bidirectionally through Microsoft Graph: rooms blocked in Outlook cannot be booked in Door James, and Door James bookings appear in the room calendar. The Outlook add-in from the September release additionally allows room search with live availability and floor plan selection inside the meeting.
- [Entra ID & SSO](https://doorjames.com/integrations/entra-id-sso/): Door James authenticates users through OpenID Connect against your organization's identity provider. Microsoft Entra ID and Google are preconfigured patterns; other OIDC providers can be set up. Group memberships from the directory drive whitelists, roles and booking rights; permitted domains control who can enter the organization at all.
- [API & third party](https://doorjames.com/integrations/api-and-third-party/): The Third Party Integrations section of the Admin Panel manages connections to external systems. Available today: SAML sign-in with a mandatory connection test, custom user synchronization from a JSON source, and custom URLs for app, panel and API. Microsoft Exchange/EWS can be configured as a preview, but does not synchronize yet. ServiceNow, Stripe payments and Nuki smart locks are planned and currently not configurable.
- [Google Workspace](https://doorjames.com/integrations/google-workspace/): Door James supports Google Workspace sign-in today: Google is a preconfigured OpenID Connect strategy, so people use their existing Workspace account and no second password exists. Usage data can be exported into Looker Studio. Calendar and room synchronization with Google Calendar exists as a proof of concept, not as a shipped feature, and is available as a pilot.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which identity providers are supported?

Door James uses OpenID Connect. Microsoft Entra ID and Google are preconfigured patterns; other OIDC-capable providers can be configured. For Keycloak-specific production scenarios we confirm the current status before making a binding statement.

### Is SAML supported?

Yes. SAML sign-in is configurable in the Admin Panel, including separate service provider credentials for the member app and the panel, and a mandatory connection test before the configuration can be saved.

### Can we connect our access control system?

Door James can address third-party systems through common interfaces. Whether a specific connection is feasible usually depends on the access control vendor – we verify that rather than promise it.

### Are special network ports required?

No. Sign-in runs through OIDC and outbound HTTPS; no special inbound ports are required. 802.1x is not applicable for a SaaS application operated over the public internet.
