A CGI product, developed in Germany

Not a side project and not a start-up experiment: Door James is developed and operated by a dedicated team at CGI as a standard product.

A standard product rather than project software

The most important decision behind Door James is not a technical one: it is developed as a standard product, not as a per-customer project solution. That has consequences in both directions. You get continuous development without paying for it, and every release benefits everyone. In return we solve requirements through configuration – and decline when a requirement would force a permanent special case.

The same stance sits behind our limits: no on-premise operation, no permanent customer-specific forks, no exclusive rights to the core product. What sounds like a restriction is the precondition for the product still being maintained in five years.

How we communicate

On these pages we separate three things: what is available in the product today, what is technically possible but depends on third parties, and what is on the roadmap. We use the same separation in tenders. You will recognize it in phrases like “will be verified” or “not committed without current confirmation” – that is not uncertainty, it is the condition for being able to rely on the rest.

How it works

  1. 1

    Product development in sprints

A dedicated team prioritizes the backlog against product goals and customer need, with release validation, functional and regression testing and CI/CD deployment.

  2. 2

    One product for all customers

Requirements are solved through configuration, not customer-specific forks. That keeps the platform maintainable and updates available to everyone.

  3. 3

    A transparent roadmap

What is in progress and what is done is public in the roadmap and release notes – including the items that are not yet committed.
